So today, wait, let me start over.
This Friday I’m getting married. Ok, with that said you could guess all of the different things I’m doing this week, along with wrapping up work for a week and a half. Well, getting my oil changed was one thing on the list. Well I sat down to read a book for work The Like Jesus, but not the Church by Dan Kimball. Very good book, and sort of a wake up call. I’m reading that book along with Metamorpha by Kyle Strobel (which I have already written about). These are both good books to read together. Sometimes you have to take breaks from reading them and take a nap so your mind doesn’t melt.
Anyways,
back to my story. I’m sitting in the Cloister waiting area and another guy walked in and sat down. After a second he said, “you look familiar, do you play at LCBC”? To which I said yes, i do. So we started chatting about what I do at the church and some of his involvement. His name was Carl. Then as we were talking a lady said, “not to be eavesdropping, but are you guys talking about LCBC”? To which we said yes. So there are the three of us sitting there chatting about church.
This was a good thing for me to be involved with, because sometimes I want to give up on the Church. I don’t know why, I don’t know if it has to deal with me working for the church or what. Sometimes I just feel like there is so much wrong with the Church, (not necessarily LCBC (though we are not perfect), but the American Church in general). (can i do parentheses inside of parentheses? (don’t let my college know about this))
So thanks to Carl and Tara who I met today, two ordinary people who saved the Church for me today.
peace,
-A
