Redemptive Journey

Have you ever thought about our journey being a redemptive process, not necessarily in our actions, but more on our world view and heart? A lot of times we hear we have to change the way we behave, to not swear, not steal, don’t lust, try not to focus on money, to try to change our sexual orientations…  What about redeeming our world view?  What happens when our worldview and idea of faith continues to change and not be stagnant?  Is this hard to do because it is hard to measure and that doesn’t fly in our society?

Balance = Tension

So, I’ve started blogging about balance last night and couldn’t focus, so then I decided that I wasn’t supposed to blog about what I was going to blog about! (long sentence) Anyways, I was just listening to a Crowder tune and was inspired by it, and it tied into what I was going to write about last night.

Which was “Balance as a way of life”

But then I thought, balance = tension.

We need to live with balance in our lives, it needs to be there, because when it isn’t things get bad. We become to much of this or to much of that. I try to look at Jesus’ example of balance.

Then I thought, “if we live in balance, if we live in a way that is not so indulging one way or another, we will find ourselves in some kind of tension.” Won’t I have two things always pulling at my heart? The hardest part is most times either way is okay.

So, this leads me to believe that I probably need a set of values for my life that are more thought out than the ones I have now and not just taken from things I read and hear from others….

Keswick 2

Well, night three is done, we talked about how humility is greater than pride. How we need to seek out humility more than pride, what Jason really focused on is how we need to be humble before God and give to Him the things we are hiding. Our sin, our doubt, our lives…..

Whoo, it was a great evening. God spoke, I felt Him leading through me, a very encouraging feeling…. It’s funny how many times we forget about how big God is, we put him in important decision making etc… but we forget that He is God over EVERYTHING. I was reminded of that tonight. God has me really wrestling with some stuff, I’m not sure what it is, but tonight was a reminder that he has it all under control, in His plans….

Hmmm, I wonder what’s down the road for my journey…..

Keswick…

Well, currently I am at a camp in New Jersey calle America’s Keswick “Where God Speaks to Hearts”. I’m here with Jason Mitchell who is teaching and Ed Weber who coordinates the whole thing. So far it has been pretty interesting. We’ve had two main sessions and they have gone decently.

I’m playing music with two others, Kate(bass) and Dan (drums).

It’s been a learning experience, it’s amazing when you are used to a full fledged worship experience all the time you kind of don’t know how other churches do their thing. There has been a positive response.

After our first song set, I went back into the “green room” to check some things I’m selling on ebay, and I found this awesome thing going on. Jason’s daughter was hanging out with all of Ed’s kids watching some kiddie show and it was pretty cute. (did i jus type cute? Is that a guy blogging error?) Anyways, here’s a pic…

Inspiration 2.0

So, I’ve been into this thing lately, I’ll see different actions of my fellow human beings that greatly inspire me. In this picture it is this man with his little son. If you look close enough you can see he has a prosthetic leg, he his holding his son’s hand. They stood there for a good five minutes. I looked at Amanda and told her that it was just cool to see the two of them looking out into the ocean together, despite what happens to them because of the hurt in the world….
